New York is a hot tub state at both ends and everywhere between. Niagara Falls anchors the west — the honeymoon capital’s whole reason for existing, where whirlpool and heart-shaped-tub suites overlook the cataracts and have since the tradition began. The Adirondacks and Lake George run the mountain-and-lake version up north, the Finger Lakes add wine-country inns, the Hudson Valley and Catskills carry the weekend-getaway stock an hour or two from the city, and downstate the metro and Long Island round it out.

The geography is enormous and the seasons vary by region. Niagara and the Finger Lakes peak in summer and fall (wine harvest and leaf season); the Adirondacks run summer lakes and winter skiing at Lake Placid and Gore; the Catskills and Hudson Valley fill leaf-season weekends and year-round romantic escapes; and NYC prices on its own relentless events-and-tourism calendar. There is no single New York hotel market — there are six.

The booking rhythm rewards regional knowledge. Niagara and Lake George are summer-and-honeymoon markets; the wine country peaks at harvest; the Catskills and Adirondacks discount in mud season (April-May) and shoulder weeks; and NYC is a market unto itself where midweek and January bargains exist if you look. Whatever the region, a whirlpool suite in New York comes with a landscape worth the trip — falls, peaks, vineyards, or skyline.
