Hotels with Jacuzzi in Room in Grand Junction & Western Colorado Jacuzzi Hotels
The Western Slope is Colorado with the crowds turned off. Grand Junction sits where the Gunnison meets the Colorado River, under the sheer red walls of Colorado National Monument — Rim Rock Drive winds 23 miles along its cliff edges, and the monument’s canyons hold the kind of sandstone scenery Utah charges reservation systems for, minus the reservation systems. The city itself runs a walkable downtown of sculptures and patios, the region’s airport, and the Western Slope’s main hotel inventory.
Palisade, fifteen minutes east where the canyon funnels warm air across the orchards, is Colorado’s wine country — 30-plus wineries and the peach crop the whole state waits for in August. The tasting-room loop runs by bike between vineyard rows with the Bookcliffs standing behind, and harvest season fills every room in the valley. Fruita, west of town, built its economy on the other kind of loop: the Kokopelli trail system’s desert singletrack made it one of the sport’s pilgrimage towns, alongside the local legend of Mike the Headless Chicken, which the town celebrates annually without embarrassment.
Grand Mesa rises south of the valley — the largest flat-topped mountain in the world, holding 300 lakes and the region’s snow sports — and beyond it Montrose serves the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the steepest, narrowest great canyon in North America, whose Painted Wall drops 2,250 feet of striped gneiss. Delta and Cedaredge fill the farm valleys between. Summer and September harvest are the region’s peaks, but the calendar barely matters: the monument and the canyon run year-round, the wine doesn’t care what month it is, and hotel rates here stay the most reasonable in western Colorado.
